100 km/h winds, 250 kilometres, snow drifts, blowing snow, bad drivers, and one lime green Fiesta ST with a reckless Toronto driver making his way across the prairies. It wasn’t a good idea, and I should really probably get a truck. At least I stopped at every stop sign and light and didn’t coast through them!

Holy crap! That is some wind! I’m glad you made it safely. How badly did you get tossed around by it?

At least you’re a visible colour. I really don’t know why people buy white or grey or beige cars. It’s just reckless.

Heard it was 100 km/h, may have only been 70 km/h gusts. And I got tossed around a fair bit.

One thing I don't miss about light small cars: winds rock your world.

A truck? As a long-time owner of a truck, I’d say you are probably better off in your car. A truck is seriously light in the back, RWD, and presents a lot of side area for the wind to catch. I had to add sand bags in the winter just to get some grip. My mom’s Honda did better in t he snow.

Oh, not for the wind, but the snow drifts. Hitting those at speed in a FiST is not fun.

You might gain some ground clearance in a truck, but hitting drifts in a truck isn’t fun either.

Thatbrings back memories of doing 70mph with 50 mph crosswind gusts in my '92 Cavalier. Staying in one lane was an activity in dry conditions.

My Legacy can be a bit bothered by strong wind gusts, but nothing like the Raider is or the Blazer was. The worst car I’ve ever driven in the wind, other than the Raider, was the 2015 Yaris I used to drive for work.

Yeah, I wouldn’t want to drive a Raider in a windstorm. You’re a br a ver man than I.

I have broken through drifts in my old impreza driving across Idaho, it was a harrowing experience. By the time we got to Twin Falls I was exhausted and we picked up a tail of about 10 cars following us down US 93, half the time we were driving on the wrong side of the road because of the wind direction coming from right to left.

Luckily the running gear is all really heavy, so the center of gravity isn’t actually as high as you’d think
